Horse Back Tours
There are many areas to go horseback riding, both on the Osa Peninsula and outside of Zancudo and Golfito. Climbing onto the back of a spirited horse can be a great way to spice up your vacation. National Parks
A great diversity of a lush and biodiverse tropical forest next to the Pacific sea shore! The National Parks offer a combination that many researchers. photographers, and nature lovers have found irresistible. Aldea del Rio's eco-tours will give visitors easy access to Corcovado Nation Park, considered to be one of the most important natural preserves in the Americas. This virgin rain forest has at least 13 distinct vegetation types in close proximity, including mangroves, palm swamps and bloodweed. Jaguars, giant anteaters, white-lipped peccaries, tapers, monkeys and a host of rare rain forest animals inhabit the vast reaches surrounding the crocodile-filled lagoon at the park's center. Visitors to the park return with tales of close jaguar sightings, white-lipped peccary herds, and sizable scarlet macaw flocks.
Tours
Explore the Sierpe River by Ponga. You'll ride through the mangroves and enjoy an exploration tour. You will see crocodiles and caymans in their natural habitat and for watch kingfishers, woodpeckers, and all sorts of marsh birds as they fly freely in the wild. You'll stop along the way where your tour guide will explain to you the ecology of the mangroves. Your whale-watching tour begins from our the dock in Sierpe and will take you to the warm, crystal clear waters just off the Osa Peninsula which is home to a variety of whale and dolphin species and are ideal for whale and dolphin viewing. Tour guests will have the opportunity to view and interact with humpback, pilot and false killer whales, and spotted, bottlenose and spinner dolphins.
Surfing
Costa Rica has a tropical climate and enjoys year-round water temperatures around 80 degrees. It has 2 separate coasts, the Pacific and the Caribbean, and receives swells from many different directions depending on the time of the year. There are over 50 well-known, named surf breaks and just as many lesser known ones.
For many in search of the perfect wave, the search has ended in Costa Rica. Long stretches of beaches provide thousands of beach breaks. Numerous rivers offer quality sandbar river mouth breaks, particularly on the Pacific coast.
River Rafting
We can make arrangements for a scenic paddle up the jungle lined Sierpe river where you will be able to see some white-faced monkeys, many exotic birds, boat-billed herons and other wild life in the mangroves.
The El General River offers approximately 68 miles and 140 rapids of class III, IV and V. While navigating the rapids, you'll pass by cascading waterfalls, magnificent flora, and local wildlife. The tour lasts a complete day.
